About Dawson's Cottage
What makes Dawson's Cottage different from a standard hotel or resort?
Unlike commercial hotels, Dawson’s Cottage was originally built and lived in as a real family home. Every detail, from the traditional Pelion carved wood ceilings to the stone paths, carries personal history and character. We offer an intimate Pelion estate stay where guests are treated like family and can experience true, uncommercialized Greek hospitality.
What is the significance of the starfish symbol around the estate?
The starfish is the discreet family crest of the Dawsons. It represents our deep connection to the Pagasitic Gulf and serves as a playful, subtle reminder of the family who built this home. We invite our guests to look closely and discover where these little starfish are hidden around the cottages and gardens.
Can you tell us more about the local village of Ano Gatzea?
Ano Gatzea history is rich with tradition, and village life here has changed very little over the centuries. It is a place where half of our neighbours still rely on mules as their primary means of transport. The village is connected by historic cobbled paths (known locally as ‘mule motorways’), allowing you to experience an authentic Greek village experience where you can hike all day without encountering a single car.Is the estate suitable for a digital detox or slow travel?
Absolutely. Dawson’s Cottage is designed for slow travel in Greece. Surrounded by a 400 m² landscaped garden, ancient olive groves, and the songs of local birds like nightingales, it is the perfect environment to unplug, slow down, and immerse yourself in nature and tranquil village life.
